Pantone’s Bold 2023 Color of The Year

It’s official. According to the Pantone Color Institute, 2023’s color of the year is magenta. It’s latest pick is Viva Magenta- 18-750. which it describes as “a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength.”

Other words the company uses to characterize the color — and, by extension, the current cultural moment — include powerful, empowering, electrifying, boundaryless, audacious and inclusive.

“This year’s Color of the Year is powerful and empowering. It is a new animated red that revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an electrifying, and a boundaryless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement. ” Pantone stated.

 

Should you paint an entire wall magenta? That depends on the design, of course, but we prefer to integrate this bold color in a more subtle way rather than use a broad stroke of bold.
